O.A.R. Background

Research for Oklahoma Alternative Resource’s (OAR) actually began in 1996. After two (2) years of research, and help from others, OAR’s programs were established. OAR was incorporated on 12/8/98, out of a need to fill the gap in the availability of legal services to the poor, particularly women with dependent children who are in abusive situations. Our program is unique as we have the only legal program of this nature in Oklahoma. As of the date this program was put into effect, there was only one other program like it in existence, it was in Colorado, and it was rated as one of the top ten pro bono programs in the Country by the American Bar Association. All of the members of the Board of OAR have volunteered thousands of hours to bring this program into existence.
